The LinkedIn Edge

When I first started my voice over business in 2014, I was laser-focused on getting my professional foundation in place (including my website, branding, demos, home studio, etc.).

But once I was open for business, I had a constant “what now?” feeling and a whole lot of crickets!

I knew I needed to somehow find clients who needed my voice for their projects, but I wasn’t sure how or where to find them.

At that point, I had just delivered Baby #4 but decided that wasn’t going to keep me from fulfilling my dream of becoming a voice actor! Because I live in the Kansas City area, this isn’t a huge hub for my industry, and I got used to relying on my own marketing skills to find 90% of my business.

I tried a number of different ways to market, but the most effective method that I’ve found to date is networking through my free LinkedIn profile.

Like most people on LinkedIn, I wasn’t really sure of the best ways to set up my profile, what to write, how to arrange everything, or what to do after I’d completed all those steps.

But I kept researching, trying out new things, tweaking the way I approached people, and eventually figured out how to put all the pieces together—and it worked!

I went from zero to six figures in less than 5 years and I still consider LinkedIn to be hands-down the BEST place to find amazing clients who have stayed with me and continue to offer me incredible projects to voice for them.

The method I use is client-focused, relationship-centric, and adopts a “how can I help you” mentality that will never go out of style.

When the word got out back in 2016 that I had “cracked the LinkedIn code”, I had so many voice actors contacting me for help, so many requests to speak at conferences/podcasts/etc, that I couldn’t keep up with the demand!

So I decided to create an on-demand e-course that was pre-recorded and broken up in bite-size lessons within each module to offer this method to even the busiest voice actor.

I soon realized that voiceover wasn’t the only industry that could benefit from this knowledge—it was perfect for ANY freelancer in the gig economy!

That’s when I went back to work to create TWO courses:

The LinkedIn Edge for freelancers and The VO Edge for voice actors.

Both courses have the same valuable information on how to use a free LinkedIn profile to find great clients, but now they are appropriately focused for the best user experience possible.

I know that any freelancer working in the gig economy relies on a loyal client base and an ever-growing quantity of projects coming in to keep their business thriving.

That’s why the methods I teach in The LinkedIn Edge and The VO Edge are designed to keep attracting new clients while engaging with the ones you’re already connected with.

Everything you’ll find within my courses has a strong focus on authenticity, customer service, and adding value. Plus, I make sure the videos are not only informative, but fun to watch!
